Will the FReepers' fracas spell the end of the fruity right wing
Free Republic ?Free Republic founder Jim Robinson lit the latest fuse by asking that George Dubya Bush's daddy, the former prez, be investigated for the CIA
drug stuff, saying that if Dubya were elected no one would ever be held accountable for the dirty tricks. Being fun sorts, the frolicking FReepers are now busy trashing the house JimRob built, causing FReeper
godmother Lucianne Goldberg, aka Trixie, among others to flee. In her farewell message the funky Lucianne wrote: " You are going to have to miss
me as well, Jim. This stuff is simply more than I can bear. My heart is broken with what has happen [sic] to the site that promised us all: You Are Not Alone. Sadly,
Trixie." Another fleeing FReeper questioned FR's financial accounting and suggested that donated money was unaccounted for from the China treason ad and the House Managers' dinner. JimRob offered this defense
to another FReeper: "The money that's here now will go to pay some of our expenses, pay the legal filing fees and some organization expenses of the new orgs, some of Clarity's out-of-pocket expenses, and I've promised
John to pay him something for rewriting our forum software. Other than that, we're rolling in the dough. Hah! Now, I suspect that after the formation of the non-profits, I'll have less to say about the direction of the
board, and I hope to turn over the daily management of it to someone else. As far as the financials are concerned they will be handled by professionals and the board will oversee all disbursements and other financials
matters. I'm tired of people calling me a crook and worse. Those of you who choose to become members of the new associations will have the power to run it and oversee yourselves." Referring to the Washingon Post and
Los Angeles Times lawsuit for copyright infringement, Robinson added, " I'm also hoping that we find a way to pay for the defense of this lawsuit, otherwise, I'm bankrupt and we're outta here!" Does this mean JimRob
has also fallen out of favor with his sugar daddy, Richard Scaife? |
