You did all the right things, and it didn't
work out for you. That's too bad. A couple of weeks after I left my information on the FC answering machine, I talked to a real person (it took a few tries) to make sure my reservation had been received. It sounds like
the FC people and the FR people didn't mix too well. Sounds like some weddings I've heard about!

I thought this was
one of the worst run affairs I've ever attended. I, like many, had no seat though I sent my check and was confirmed in March. Even ReJoyce Smith was heard mumbling about the seating. L.D. Brown's wife also had no seat.
Meandog, Parrot's Up and I didn't even get into the Ballroom till almost 7:30. And I have never attended a function where all on the dais were not introduced. Did I miss this? Who was the man in the black eye patch? Was
that Henry Hyde's wife next to him? Unbelievable!
Then, when the awards were given out, they did not even read off the names of the individual Managers! They each deserved their own ovations but never got
the chance. How about when congressman Hall asked the monk to come up and give the benediction, and then gave it himself only to be totally embarassed when the poor monk slowly made his way to the stage?
Finally, did anyone have trouble buying a drink? One fellow at our table had tickets left over from the cocktail hour and was able to hunt down our waiter. Since we were running around trying to straighten
out the seating mess, we never got drink tickets. Someone said drinks could be bought for cash at the dinner, but our waiters disappeared after desert, so it was water, coffee or nothing.
Good for CaL!
Requiem For Truth's sixyearold daughter was also pushed and intimidated by the FC gestapo !

Shethink13 – I enjoyed
very much sitting with you at the dinner Tuesday night. We got home late last night – I'm just now feeling as if I'm getting things back to normal (whatever THAT is!) – with my grandfather's funeral and then the
rally – I've been living in a whirlwind the last 3 weeks!! AnywayI – agree with you – just what IS the Free Congress Foundation? Things were not planned very well – I mean we had a great time and everything and I
am SO glad that I decided to go – BUT – I heard a lot of complaints, also.

Speaking for myself, I will not attend another
Free Congress event. I hear ya, Lisa. The organization of this event S*CKED! I was working the doors to the ballroom, checking tickets, and you wouldn't believe all the people complaining to me about their table being
full, not having tickets they paid for, and EVEN CONGRESSMAN BARR'S FAMILY DIDN'T HAVE A DESIGNATED SEATING AREA. They came to me and I was so embarassed to have to tell them I couldn't help them.
Not to
mention the fact that there would have been only a handful of people in the crowd if it hadn't been for the Freepers, and the vast majority of the volunteers were Freepers.
CaL told me that night that some
chick from FC was very abusive, screaming at people and got physical with her, pushing her and kicking her in the legs. CaL retaliated though with a highheel to the toes, producing an "OW" so she knew she hit
her mark.
Way to go, CaL!

I'll say again that your shout was the best part of the dinner. As far as being
inappropriate, that whole affair was so badly run, it was hard to figure out what WAS appropriate. Joe sounds like some of the FC people I sat with. They thought it was "inappropriate" to have children there.
Some of my FReeper friends brought their kids so they could see what heroes look like. Speaking for myself, I will not attend another Free Congress event.
